About the Applied AI Lab

Do you want to be part of the team that is looking to fill the gap around the data science and Machine Learning (ML) experience in Calgary?  Do you have the background and experience to mentor skilled individuals who are lacking practical hands on experience in applying their knowledge to real world situations?  Help us close the talent gap that is a hurdle for industry adoption of emerging ML practices in our city.

We are looking for two Machine Learning Team Leads to join our team and make a difference in the Calgary ecosystem. This full time opportunity starts April 1st, 2021.

Job Role

As a Machine Learning Team Lead and a member of a Data Science team you play a crucial role in making sure we provide the needed mentorship to our Machine Learning Interns as well as assist in advancing ML projects and deliver value to customers. This is a hands-on team and technical leadership position where you also perform exploratory data analysis and solve problems utilizing Data Mining and Machine Learning techniques. You will work with multiple tools and gain experience in multiple AI/ML and data processing fields to continue to develop your skillset and ability to provide mentorship in an ever evolving field.  

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and professional mentorship and training for the Machine Learning Interns in our Applied AI Lab
• Provide work direction and review the work of the ML Interns
• Scope projects and lead planning and brainstorming sessions
• Developing ideas and defining problems that need to be solved
• Suggest and explore novel solutions to a problem
• Provide technical and professional mentorship to other members of the Data Science team
• Provide technical leadership to ML/AI projects
• Assess and suggest improvement to ML/AI processes
• Effectively communicate analytical results to key partners

 

Minimum Requirements 

• You have relevant academic and industrial experience
  
• Experience in leading Data Science teams across multiple projects
• Hands on experience in conducting and managing AI/ML project
• Proficiency with software development
• Expertise with Python and Unix operating systems
• Expertise with Machine Learning and Data Mining concepts and techniques
• Experience with SQL programming for data extraction
• Experience in working in an agile environment
