The AlphaLayer team at AltaML is looking for a highly motivated UX Designer to provide design expertise and support the development of alpha generation and risk management technologies. We are focused on building AI/ML solutions within the investment management space, including both front and back-office operations.

Job Role


As a UX Designer you play a crucial role in making sure we create ML products that deliver value to customers. You will be responsible for making sure that the products and solutions we build work intuitively and are a delight to use. 


Responsibilities of this role include:


  • Work collaboratively with our product & development teams
  • Communicate design decisions to cross-functional team members and stakeholders
  • Understand product specifications and user psychology
  • Conduct concept and usability testing and gather feedback
  • Create personas through user research and data
  • Define the right interaction model and evaluate its success
  • Develop wireframes and prototypes around customer needs
  • Create UI designs that fit the UX findings/research
  • Participate in design critique and product leadership feedback meetings
  • Possess a strong understanding of the product development process, from problem definition through to detailed UI and visual design


General Requirements:


  • Solid experience in prototyping and interaction design
  • Proficient understanding & implementation of design process
  • Tendency to question why and be curious
  • Excellent communication skills

  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity
  • You thrive with autonomy
  • Able to establish priorities & manage time productively
  • Proven track record of delivering quality experiences that meet, or exceed customer expectations
  • Strong portfolio of design projects and research
  • Proficient in design software (e.g. Figma, Miro, Invision, Sketch, Balsamiq)
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS; JavaScript is a plus
  • 4+ years of relevant design experience at a high tech, product-driven company
